Jefferson County Garbage & Recycling Facilities
Current hours, accepted-material notes, and self-haul pricing for Jefferson County solid waste sites. The self-haul rates below apply to Port Townsend and Quilcene. West End collection services have separate service areas and rates.
Jefferson County's garbage and recycling changes are now in effect as of April 1, 2026. Recycling-only loads at Port Townsend and Quilcene cost $20. If you bring trash and recycling together in the same trip, you are charged only for the trash and there is no additional recycling fee on that load.

Effective April 1, 2026
- Recycling-only loads: $20 at either site if you bring only recycling materials.
- Trash and recycling together: You will only be charged for the trash. Recycling brought on the same trip remains free.

- Port Townsend Transfer Station: Best for garbage, recycling, yard waste, and larger self-haul loads.
- Quilcene Drop Box: Best for smaller household garbage and recycling loads in South County.
- Before you haul: Call first if you have unusual materials, large special items, or questions about what a site accepts.
